YouandMe presents...... YouandMe presents ...... You and Me

Following two successful gigs at The Faversham and Joseph’s Well respectively, Youandme is proud to showcase a third gig at Joseph’s Well, Leeds, featuring West Yorkshire bands - PaperPushers, Industry, Streetlights, and Bio-Tech-Crisis, on 12 March 2008, 19:30.  Tickets are £4 advance/£5 on the door, available through contacting info@youandmepresents.co.uk, or via any of the acts playing.

Leeds based band PaperPushers are an eclectic 6 piece hailing from all over the country. Founded in Scarborough, they have been described by the local media as “one of the town’s most innovative and exciting new bands.” Blending their collective musical influences, they create an energetic brand of alternative live dance music.

Industry consists of Matt Benatan, Chris Core, Rob Harvey and Adam Howlett (or Francis Stratford during term time). Their music has been compared to bands such as Muse, Rage Against the Machine and Nine Inch Nails. The band fuses driving guitar riffs, punchy drumbeats, and dynamic electronics, producing a sound that ranges from powerful hard rock to energetic industrial.

Streetlights are a collection of people from different parts of England living, studying and playing music together in Leeds. The band completed its line-up in September 2007, and the Three Short Words E.P. quickly followed. They are all into different music, and think that's a good thing, carefully treading the line of pop and indie, sounding like Kate Nash and Kele Okereke's lovechildren.

Bio-Tech-Crisis describe their songs as tales from a decadent future...  an underworld of glitz, grime and burnt-out circuits where nothing is ever fake enough.  BTC came into being in early September 2007, a concept developed by two friends with a love of heavy industrial music.  Having played mainly in metal bands for many years, they decided to break out of the genre to create something different.

YOUANDME IS A LOCAL MUSIC PROMOTION OUTFIT, OFFERING EXPOSURE TO UNSIGNED BANDS THROUGH LIVE EVENTS.  ESTABLISHED BY EVENT MANAGER KAREN MOCKETT, YOUANDME AIMS TO CELEBRATE LIVE MUSIC AS A TWO-WAY THING – A CHEMISTRY THAT TAKES PLACE BETWEEN THE BAND AND THEIR CROWD.

THROUGH YOUANDME, KAREN HAS TRANSFORMED HER PASSION FOR LOCAL MUSIC, INTO SOMETHING TANGIBLE, AND SAYS, “ THE CURRENT UK MUSIC SCENE IS THRIVING WITH TALENT FROM OUR REGION.  NOW IS THE RIGHT TIME TO ENSURE BANDS HAVE AN APPROPRIATE PLATFORM TO PERFORM IN FRONT OF THE RIGHT PEOPLE – THE PEOPLE WHO CAN DETERMINE THEIR SUCCESS”.

THE NEXT YOUANDME EVENT IS AN ACOUSTIC GIG PLANNED FOR MAY, AND THERE ARE PLANS FOR MORE EVENTS THROUGHOUT 2008 AND BEYOND.  YOUANDME IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT COLLABORATIVE PROJECT THAT WELCOMES INPUT FROM OTHERS WITH AN INTEREST IN CELEBRATING NEW LOCAL MUSIC – BANDS, WRITERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, VENUES, ARTISTS ETC.
